BEWARE: TEACUP YORKIE SCAMS!

PLEASE TAKE SOME TIME AND READ THIS ENTIRE POST:

Every time I heard more and more not just things I read on line but also referrals from people who come to us wanting to get a Yorkie puppy, as the scams and frauds on yorkies are becoming more aggressive now a days. For so here are some popular scams and tips you should follow:

TIPS WHEN BUYING A TEACUP YORKIE:
  1. First; Do a Research about the breed or get a book, learn about taking care, training, risks that may come with the breed, special care for the Teacup Sized yorkies, signs to look for on a healthy puppy, etc.
  2. Learn that "you get what you pay" IS TRUE!! We had people calling us saying that someone else is asking only $45 for a Teacup Yorkie!!! (that's actually the most ridiculous price ever heard) but many times you'll see Teacups advertise for$400 to $700. TRUE: Even now a days when economy is bad the real price for Teacup Sized Yorkie won't be lower than $1000.
  3. Most breeders won't allow people to come to their house; there may be a debate on this, cause on the breeder side is the problem of security: revealing the house address is may be a call for a disaster (burglary), on the buyer side just wanna to be sure that the puppies are raise in a clean, safe and secure environment. Reason why meet first somewhere else then Breeder will feel secure to  invite visit the home where the puppies are raised.
  4. Learn that the range size of a Teacup Yorkie is 2lb to 4lb, From 5lb and up is a Toy size.
  5. A true Teacup comes from Small Parents! and even Grandparents. Always ask to see the parents of the puppy. If Toy sized Parents are having small puppy (es) that's called a "RUNT"
  6. About the AKC papers there is people faking this too, to avoid this you can ask the name of the Breeder (better to have the AKC# of at least one Parent) then call the AKC and ask if there is a litter/dog ever been Register with them.
  7. Always ask for a contract with at least 24hrs guaranty.
  8. My personal Tip I never bought Puppies younger than 4 months, First to avoid the puppy crying and behave second to be most sure of the final size of the doggy and also to be sure that puppy is healthy and is eating well.
TEACUP YORKIE SCAMS:
  1. For sure you know to NEVER EVER! fall for a seller who somehow happen to be  out of the Country, many times these scams have their ads for cute teacups as low as $300 or even Free.
  2. Now this is a real Seller that offers you a $500-$700 teacup (it may even come down from its original price $1400 and so) you get exited about the deal and wanted to send a deposit, the seller won't allow you saying that can hold the puppy and nobody is asking for it. Let's say that you are kind of far so set up a date and drive to it. Once you're there the seller tell you "Oh someone else just came and bought the puppy you wanted, but I have another Teacup for $1200 firm"
  3. Another one, This seller really have the Teacup Puppy but absolutely won't ever let you go to his resident. Will go down on price even in half price, in many cases will never give you a Signed Contract. This could be very bad in the true case I heard of this they pay I think $500/700 for a MicroTeacup (under 2,5lb) and the puppy died in 3 days.
  4. Similar situation: a Tiny dog is offer as a young puppy $600, no contract. This dog ended up having mayor health issues, was taken to vet they found the dog was older than told, was blind an had hearth problem, over a year dealing with health issues Yorkie died during  heart surgery.
  5. And this is something that actually happen to me; I bought a Teacup Yorkie puppy pay $1300, chart to be 3lb full grown, ended up with almost 5lb full grown. As many time those cheap Teacups are told to be younger but in the end you're just getting a toy size Yorkie. Oh that happen to me 5 years ago when yorkies use to be $1500 and up for toy size.
These scams are the ones that I personally heard from people who wanted to/or buy a puppy from us, if I have any more testimonies I will add that here.
